SXSWi proves a strong draw for publishing crowd

When I moved to Austin 15 years ago, the interactive portion of SXSW was in its infancy.  This year, attendance was up 30 percent to well over 100,000 attendees, the conference is well known as the birthplace of Twitter and without a doubt it was the place to be earlier this month if you were interested in the digitial direction of publishing.

Boasting panels by dozens of bold faced names,  standing room only speeches, and panels packed to capacity,  nearly every person I spoke to remarked that they had met someone crucial to their business or learned something they could definitely use.   Add in the obvious networking component, and what’s not to like?

We at Cave Henricks and our partner firm Shelton Interactive used the ocassion  to host a ‘Books & Bytes” bash, kicking back with TexMex and margaritas to celebrate the authors whose content are truly is the engine driving the digitial revolution.

We were thrilled to host authors John Hagel, Tony Schwartz (not pictured), Stephen Denning, Carol Sanford, Chuck Martin, Simon Salt, Jill Griffin, Dennis Welch, Todd Sattersten and John Bradberry.

It was both a thrill and an honor to see so many publishing colleagues in our hometown!
